• A 3-D Maxillary 1st molar with 4 canals will be provided to each attendee by Komet USA along with all materials for this workshop.

Course Description:
Which tooth is it? What anesthetic is best? Which filesystem should I use? How do I fill a canal? What is the best restoration after endodontic treatment? Which pain medications and antibiotics are best? These endodontic tips of technological advances will allow you to provide efficient and excellent endodontic care for your patients.

This evidence based one day participation course will allow you to separate the facts from the fiction with diagnosis and treatment planning; anesthesia, access, isolation; the instrumentation phase of endodontic treatment with locating the canal orifices, negotiating the canals, opening the orifice, reconfirming working length, and utilizing “cutting edge” rotary/reciprocation instruments; recent improvements in the delivery of irrigation solutions that have enhanced the reduction of bacteria and debris in the root canal system; condensation of gutta-percha that has improved with technological advances; restoration of endodontic treated teeth; and post-operative care with appropriate antibiotics and pain medications.
Learning Objectives:

1. List 15 steps of diagnosis emphasizing medical/dental history, radiographs.
2. Outline the progression of local anesthetics, access, and isolation.
3. Utilize rotary/reciprocation instrumentation.
4. Identify the different delivery of irrigation solutions.
5. Demonstrate the different delivery procedures for obturation.
6. Evaluate the different restorative procedures following endodontics.
7. Discern the correct pain medications and utilization of antibiotics.

Meet Your Clinical Instructor:
Dr. John S. Olmsted is a past President of the American Association of Endodontists, and past General Chairperson of the American Dental Association 2004 Orlando, FL Meeting. He has been active in practice, teaching, lecturing, and professional dental organizations for the past 47 years. John has presented 660 days of scientific sessions with international, national, regional, state dental meetings, and dental schools. He is emeritus in a group endodontic practice in Greensboro, NC with Dr. Matthew Baird, Dr. Will Stanley, Dr. Leslie Malueg, Dr. Nathan Horwitz, Dr. Josh Morrow, Dr. Zack Mohorn; Dr. H. Wayne Mohorn, Sr. (1971-2019), Dr. Stuart B. Fountain (emeritus), Dennis L. Torney (emeritus), Dr. Steven G. Mohorn (emeritus), Dr. Ken Morgan, Jr.(emeritus), Dr. Hal W. Mohorn, Jr.(emeritus).

John received his DDS from the University of Iowa in 1975 and was awarded OKU. He earned his MS from the University of North Carolina in 1977 and is currently an Adjunct Professor in Endodontics at the University of North Carolina and the University of Iowa. He is certified by the American Board of Endodontics and obtained his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 1984, Fellowship in the International College of Dentists (FICD) in 1989, Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy in 1993, and Fellowship in the American College of Dentists (FACD) in 1995.
