Description

With recent development of CAD/CAM dental technology, intraoral scanners are now widely used in restorative dentistry, but sometimes poorly understood. This presentation will review basic principles of intraoral scanning and help practitioners understand indications and contraindications. Various clinical examples will be presented to discuss best scanning strategics under different clinical circumstances.

  • Learn about basic scientific background of intraoral scanning.
  • Understand the benefits and limitations of intraoral scanning.
  • Understand how to select proper strategies/techniques for making digital impressions in various clinical situations

 

About the Presenter

Dr. Hongseok An

Dr. An is currently Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics and Director of the digital dentistry curriculum at Marquette University School of Dentistry. He received his BS in Statistics / Computer Science and DDS from Seoul National University in South Korea. He completed his prosthodontic residency at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where he received his Certificate in Prosthodontics and MSD. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and a member of American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. Dr. An has severed as an editorial board member of Journal of Prosthodontics and a reviewer for other scientific journals. Dr. An has authored/ co-authored scientific articles in various peer-reviewed journals. His research and clinical interests include the CAD/CAM dental technology and implant dentistry. His lectures mainly focus on digital dentistry, implant dentistry and esthetic reconstruction.
