Description

The prevalence of adult orthodontics has shown a marked increase in recent years. With more discreet options for orthodontic treatment and increasing social acceptance for orthodontics beyond adolescent years, many adults are seeking a smile rejuvenation. The irony is that orthodontic tooth movement in adults have a high incidence of “black triangle” formation that patients often consider a worse esthetic dilemma.

Conventional bonding can have unpredictable esthetic outcomes and longevity and are very dependent upon clinician skill. Subtractive methods can have high physiologic costs patients find onerous. Injection overmolding as a restorative solution typically has easier skill acquisition, better longevity and esthetics, and high appeal to patients as an additive solution.

Objectives:
1. Learn steps for injection overmolding.
2. Discuss matrix options.
3. Explain simple method for achieving high gloss, stain resistant polish.
