Steve Carstensen
DDS, Diplomate, American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine
Dr. Carstensen is a skilled dentist serving patients in Bellevue, Washington. He also serves as a consultant to the American Dental Association for sleep-related breathing disorders and co-author of a textbook for dentists treating the disease.
In 1983, Dr. Carstensen graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in Houston, Texas. Afterward, he and his wife, Midge, a dental hygienist, started a private general dentistry practice in Texas before moving to their native Seattle in 1990.
In 1996 he achieved a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentists in recognition of over 3000 hours of advanced education in dentistry, with an increasing amount of time in practice and classwork devoted to sleep medicine.
A lifelong educator, Dr. Carstensen, is currently the sleep education director for both Pankey Institute and Spear Education, recognized as among the finest places for dentists to further their education.
As a volunteer leader for the American Dental Association, he was a program chairman and general chairman for the Annual Session, the biggest educational event the association sponsors.
For the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, he’s been a board member, secretary-treasurer, and president-elect. In 2006 he achieved certification from the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Gary DeWood
DDS
Dr. Gary DeWood lives in Phoenix with his wife of 44 years, Dr. Cheryl DeWood. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Gary earned his D.D.S. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1980, completed the University of Florida Facial Pain Center Curriculum from 1992 through 1995, and in 2004 earned a Master of Science degree at The University of Toledo College of Medicine. He left full-time private practice in 2003 to serve as clinical director at The Pankey Institute, a position he held until 2008 when he joined Frank Spear in Seattle as the president of Frank’s education company, The Seattle Institute. As a founding member of Spear Education, formed by the merger of The Scottsdale Center and The Seattle Institute, he relocated to Arizona in 2009 as Executive Vice-President for curriculum and clinical education. Today he serves as Executive Vice-President for Spear Education. He maintains a limited private practice on the Spear campus, teaches in Spear workshops, Spear Online, Spear Study Clubs, and in Spear Practice Solutions.
Gary has presented to international audiences in the areas of occlusion, temporo-mandibular disorders, bite splint therapy, restorative dentistry, esthetics, financial management, and practice management.
Hazel Glasper
DDS
Dr. Glasper’s post-graduate work has included training with some of today’s most renowned restorative and cosmetic dentists. Dr. Glasper’s practice, Revive Dental, has been listed numerous times as a Top Doctor by Baltimore Magazine. She is a regular contributor to Maryland’s Women’s Journal on topics relating to comprehensive dentistry and has also written for Black Enterprise Magazine. Dr. Glasper was appointed the Spokesperson on Oral Health for the American Heart Association in Maryland. She has sat on the Legislative Committee at Maryland Dental Action Coalition and spoke on a panel at the Senate Hearing in Annapolis addressing issues on Oral Health. She has partnered with Morgan State University to bring oral health education to the institution and the community. On her crusade to change the perception of dentistry, she is frequently featured in the media and has appeared on CNN, Fox News, NBC, ABC NEWS Digital, PBS, and multiple radio shows, including Sirius XM and the Tom Joyner Show.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Glasper has inspired patients and audiences to be their own healthcare advocates through a comprehensive, holistic approach to dentistry. Her authentic, high-energy presentations encourage and guide professionals to achieve deeper personal satisfaction while embracing their ability to transform lives through comprehensive care.
Morgan Gwin
DDS
Dr. Morgan Gwin is a 3rd year Resident in the Graduate Prosthodontics program at the University of Washington. Prior to starting her residency training she completed a Doctor of Dental Surgery (2015) and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (2011) at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB, Canada.
Timothy A. Hess
DDS, MAGD, LLSR, FACD, FICD, FPFA
Dr. Timothy A. Hess is a graduate of the University of Alberta and earned his DDS degree from the University of Washington in 1994. He is an Affiliate Assistant Professor Restorative Dentistry, Affiliate Assistant Professor Oral Medicine, and the former Director of the Tucker Institute at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Dr. Hess is known for his expertise in the topic of implant failures due to restorative techniques, operative dentistry, zirconia restorations, and facial aesthetics, including the use of Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers.
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Hess maintains a private restorative practice in Auburn, WA. Much of his practice focuses on advanced prosthetic procedures including implant support complete dentures. He is an accomplished author, with publications in respected journals such as The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, International Journal of Oral Maxillofacial Implants, International Journal of Prosthodontics, Canadian Journal of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics, Decisions in Dentistry, and Operative Dentistry.
Dr. Hess is an active lecturer, having presented at numerous prestigious events, including the ADA Annual Meeting, the AGD Annual Meeting, the Pacific Northwest Dental Conference, Canadian Academy of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics, Operative Academy, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, and the International Academy of Gnathology. He is also a Past-President of the Seattle-King County Dental Society and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He has received the Lifelong Service Recognition from the Academy of General Dentistry three times.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Hess enjoys time with his wife, Lisa, and their six nieces and nephews. When not lecturing or teaching, Dr. Hess enjoys photography, traveling, and attending junior hockey games. His favorite films are Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars, and his favorite book is Great Expectations. Passionate about his work, Dr. Hess is committed to educating others and advancing the field of dentistry.
Steven Karmy
DDS, MAGD, DNDBA, FACD
Steven Karmy lives just outside of Walla Walla WA on 20 acres he calls the “garden of weeden” surrounded by wheat fields and vineyards. He practices comprehensive dentistry utilizing minimal and moderate sedation in a private practice shared with his lovely wife, Melissa Ramsey DDS, MAGD. He loves 3D planning and printing for restorative and implant dentistry. He also practices anesthesia for dentistry focusing on office based general anesthetics for the pediatric population in Yakima, WA and Hood River, OR. When he is not at work or serving at the WAAGD, he is likely fishing, hiking, or relaxing by the fire. He and Melissa have a son, Vincent-who loves to play golf and video games.

Michelle Lee
DDS
Dr. Michelle Lee is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and lives in Malvern, Pennsylvania with her husband, MinSuk and two children, Victoria and Nathan. She owns a patient-centered comprehensive restorative private practice in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania treating from the TMJ to final smile. Dr. Lee started her Pankey journey in 2008 and serves on the Pankey Board of Directors, Advisory Board, Pankey Faculty, and also holds a Pankey Scholar distinction. She also teaches restorative microscope dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School and integrates microscope dentistry in her own private practice.
She is passionate about teaching, mentoring, giving back to dentistry, and has been invited to speak in various national and local education venues. Dr. Lee is grounded through her love for hiking, traveling, and practicing mindfulness with her family and values creating fulfillment in having a work-life balance.
Charles Regalado
DDS
Dr. Regalado grew up in Eastern Washington, received his under-graduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University in 1983 and then graduated Alpha Omega (the top standing in my class) and a Member of the OKU Dental Honor Society from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1991. He has completed additional training in veneers, full-mouth reconstruction and advanced bonding techniques and has spent 5+ years instructing dentists from all over the United States in cosmetic dentistry. Currently, in addition to his regular office hours, he is teaching those same techniques at the Dental Hygiene School at Eastern Washington University.
Nicholas Parque
DDS
Dr. Parque grew up in Northeastern California in the small town of Susanville. After high school, he then moved to Spokane, Washington, where he attended Gonzaga University. Dr. Parque completed his dental school training at the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. Early on he demonstrated special interest in surgical training, having completed the Periodontics Clerkship and Advanced Oral Surgery Clinical Elective programs. Following the completion of his dental training, Dr. Parque completed a General Practice Residency Program at Swedish Medical Center with special focus on advanced oral surgical procedures, sedation dentistry, and management of medically complex patients. During his residency training, he also obtained Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification as well as his Intravenous Moderate Conscious Sedation Permit in the state of Washington. Since the completion of his residency training, Dr. Parque has served as an attending dentist within the Swedish residency program and has trained five cohorts of dental residents on the fundamentals of oral surgery. Dr. Parque has recently assumed the full-time role as the Assistant Director within the Swedish Medical Center GPR program. Dr. Parque is a previous participant of the Washington AGD Implantology A to Z program, where he has advanced his skills within the realm of implant dentistry. He has a passion for education, teaching, and helping others learn to deliver excellent surgical care.
Dr. Parque is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, and plans to earn his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in the summer of 2022. Dr. Parque serves on the Board of Directors for the Washington Academy of General Dentistry and has served as clinical faculty for several hands-on courses on oral surgery and neurotoxin therapy at the WAGD.
Dr. Parque also holds active membership in the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, and Seattle-King County Dental Society.
In his free time, Dr. Parque enjoys spending time at home with his wife, Tara, newborn son, Theo, and dog, Wrigley. He is an avid cyclist, having completed the Seattle to Portland bike ride twice, and enjoys other outdoor activities such as running, swimming, and golf.
Mai-Ly Duong
DMD, MPH, MAEd MAGD, FSCD, FACD, FICD, FPFA
Mai-Ly (My-Lee) received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and her Masters in Public Health (M.P.H.) from A.T. Still University. In additional to private practice, she also serves as Assistant Professor at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. In addition to her dental school training, she received a certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry from NYU Lutheran Medical Center, which helped her evolve her skills to include CEREC restorations, implant placement and restoration, and advanced periodontal surgery. She is trained in sedation dentistry, as well as in treating patients who have special needs or complex medical conditions.
In addition to private practice, she also serves as Associate Professor and full-time Director of Special Care Dentistry at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. She speaks at conferences and meetings around the USA and internationally. She is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). She is an active AGD and ADA member serving both on the state and national level in various positions. During her spare time, she loves traveling, exploring national parks, ballroom dancing, and flying 172 aircraft.
Prasith Kim-Aun
DMD, FICOI
Dr. Prasith Kim-Aun (nickname “Jawz”) was born in Cambodia and raised in France and Germany. He studied dentistry at the University of Berlin and earned his DDS degree at the University of Ulm (both in Germany). After practicing in private practice for a few years, his desire to broaden his scope of dentistry led him to the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia where he attended the PASS program (Program for Advanced Standing Students) – a special program tailored to non-US-trained dentists. He eventually earned his DMD degree from this program and conveyed his knowledge as a PASS instructor to other upcoming PASS doctors before he moved to Washington State. He served underprivileged patients in community health clinics for two years before he opened his own private practice in University Place (WA) with his wife who is also a dentist.
His passion for continuing education and surgery led him down the path of implant dentistry. His implant education includes training at the Southern California Academy of General Dentistry, the Ladera Ranch Implant Institute (now called the Engel Institute), the AIC (Advanced Dental Implant Research and Education Center), and the “Clinical Implantology A-Z” program at the Washington Academy of General Dentistry. He has clocked in over 1,000 hours of implant-related continuing education and has been the co-director of the “Implantology A-Z” program at the WA AGD since 2020.
Dr. P. has earned his Fellowship with the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantologists) and is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry.
In his spare time, Dr. P. enjoys airsoft, soccer, movies, and the adventures of fatherhood to his two beautiful daughters. He was also editor-in-chief for Starfleet International (www.sfi.org), the largest Star Trek fan club in the world, for three consecutive years and still enjoys all kinds of science fiction.

Gene Peterson

Gene Peterson is the Director of Education at Blue Sky Bio, LLC. He is a CDT with a BS in Biology, an MS in Biology/Human Anatomy and Physiology, and is currently finishing his PhD dissertation on digital dentures. He owned and operated a full-service dental lab for over 18 years in Arizona and has been a pioneer, researcher, developer, and educator in digital dental workflows, software, and materials over the last 35 years. Gene has multiple publications and lectures worldwide on both clinical and technical dental subjects.

Research is identifying increased oral-systemic links and patients are seeking improved understanding of their oral care needs. As a dental professional with a drive and passion for the advancement of preventive care within the community, Katrina Sanders, RDH, BSDH, M.Ed., RF believes it is the responsibility of dental education to produce competent, skilled and empathetic providers who possess the psychomotor and affective skills required to meet the growing demands of the dental industry.
A clinical dental hygienist, author and international speaker, Katrina is a vibrant, passionate and charismatic award-winning educator with a unique approach to delivering continuing dental education. Katrina has published articles on the topics of injection failure, local anesthesia techniques and practice management techniques for the millennial patient and has been featured on multiple industry podcasts.
